Physical Prerequisites for Private Lessons (children & adults)

Skating is an activity demanding a certain level of physical strength and flexibility in order to achieve and maintain the basic positions and movements. You must be able to do the following movements (off-skates) in order to be able to learn to skate.

  • Move from kneeling down to standing up (without needing assistance).
  • Move from standing up to kneeling down (without needing assistance).
  • With body upright, bend knees forwards over the toes and maintain this mini-squat position for 2 minutes.
  • Stand on one leg and balance for a few seconds.
  • Stand up straight, bend the knees and rock your weight from the toes to the heels and back again.
