I was invited to Valladolid (1hr from Madrid) by Pablo Lopez who did ICP Level 1 in London 3 years ago with me. Since then he has created a thriving skate school and skate community of over 250 skaters. It’s impressive how the skate scene in Spain is growing and every town has a skate club and wonderful indoor venues which are affordable and available.
I gave a selection of classes; Beginner Dance workshops, Intermediate skills (working on backwards skating, transitions, backwards inverted T stop and the inverted Mohawk), plus an ICP skate skills prep session for 4 of Pablo’s more advanced students. The plan is for me to return next year and do an ICP Level 1 course, so that Pablo can grow his school and expand more. Other candidates will come from the area so that the course has the min 8 people.
I loved skating at these indoor venues, especially the rink which took me back to my artistic days. Unfortunately this was only a very quick 24 hour stay but I look forward to coming back next year for a longer visit. Huge thanks to Pablo and his mother Pilar for their wonderful hospitality.
