Vienna

Fri 10th – Sun 12th September 2027

The Vienna Trip is the last one of the 2027 season. It combines the Vienna Friday Night Skate with calm, countryside skating and touring the city’s main sights. As with all Skatefresh Trips, lesson time is built into everyday so your skate skills (stops, stride, tram lines & street skating) improve over the weekend, under Asha’s watchful eye.

Trip Itinerary

Optional Friday Night Street Skate 10th Sept 2027

Meet from 2015 for 2100 departure
Location: Heldenplatz https://maps.app.goo.gl/B4QrnRfzuNNj229b9
or Maria-Theresien-Platz https://maps.app.goo.gl/deQsdKH8Cmzzs1h4A
Both locations are near each other and we’ll confirm which one it’ll be closer to the time, depending on whether the autumn market takes place at Heldenplatz on 10th Sept.

The Vienna Friday Night Skate attracts large numbers (1500-3000) of skaters, cyclists and skate boarders and is Austria’s oldest climate protection demonstration. The addition of bikes makes for a unique challenge but the energy and size of this skate makes it super fun!

Saturday 11th Sept 2027

Meet at 1000 at Ernst-Happel-Stadion (Meiereistraße / Stadium plaza, U2 Station Stadion)
https://maps.app.goo.gl/ddPj4UY3w6BsWicc9

We meet and start with a stopping methods review so you feel confident on the streets. Asha will prep you for how to safely navigate tram lines which feature throughout the city.
Saturday’s tour takes us into the countryside where we skate on a long skinny island in the Danube River where no cars are allowed. Beautiful surfaces, flat ground and perfect conditions to work on your skating stride.
We’ll have lunch in a typical Austrian Inn with traditional food options and the possibility of a swim in the river. We will prebook our lunch options via the WhatsApp group.
This is the restaurant: Strandbeisl Selbstverständlich

The evening is free and our Whatsapp group allows you to organise and meet up with other Trippers for dinner.

If you do not use a heel brake then you must be able to control your speed and stop on downhill slopes using any other stopping methods.
