Skate with Asha in the stunning areas around Zurich & Lucerne on smooth cycle tracks & streets with mountains, lakes, fresh air, cheese and chocolate!
This weekend Skate Trip combines Zurich and Lucerne routes alongside stunning lakes and either distant or towering mountains! This is Skatefresh’s first ever Trip to Switzerland (thanks to Asha’s brother moving to Zurich). Surfaces are lovely and smooth, the air is divine and the views spectacular.
There is no Friday Night Skating in Switzerland, but there are fortnightly group skates on MONDAY evenings throughout the summer. You can choose to stay for an optional Monday Night Group Skate and travel home Tuesday. Either we’ll be lucky for Zurich’s skate to land on Monday 24th May. Or we can travel a short distance to Basel which has their Monday night skates alternating with Zurich’s. The trip itself is just the Saturday & Sunday. Monday Night skate is optional on 24th but Asha will be going. Highly recommend a day off for sauna, river swimming or chocolate tours.

When we arrive in Lucerne we’ll see some of the town before skating a picturesque route along Lake Lucerne with giant mountains looming close above us. Plenty of time to work on your fitness stride (with Asha’s best tips and drills), enjoy the scenery and pass through this calming and iconic countryside. We’ll stop for picnic lunch along the way. We end the tour on the other side of the lake 30kms away and return by boat to Lucerne and then Zurich. Evening free in Zurich.
Our WhatsApp group allows us all to meet up for dinner.
The RTN Train ticket to Lucerne costs 56 Swiss francs (but we will try to bulk buy to reduce that price to 40 francs).

Sunday 23rd May 2027
Meeting Point: 0930 at Sechseläutenplatz (the square in front of the Opera House) in Zurich.
https://maps.app.goo.gl/3cScjJ5YjW4dEYdP6?g_st=ic
We begin the day with some lesson time in front of Zurich’s Opera House in the open square. We’ll tour down the eastern side of the lake, through interesting suburbs mixing old and new architecture. Lesson spots will be street skating related, small space manoeuvrability and short sections of irregular surfaces….and some slopes…. Always good to find new and different obstacles to train on. We will break for lunch in Meilen before rolling onto a ferry to cross the lake for our return trip back up the west side of the Lake. We’ll stop at Lindt Chocolate HQ before they close!
Depending on time we may end the Tour at Lindt and return by bus or train or return skating. Both options available.
We’ll find a place to have a drink after the tour near the station for those not travelling Sunday evening.

For those wanting to share a Hostel Room with other skaters from this trip, we have a Whatsapp group for this purpose once you’ve been accepted onto the Trip. Email Asha and she’ll grant you access to that group to make arrangements.
This hostel is reasonable with 4 people sharing a room. There are many options just in Google Maps.

This trip is NOT appropriate for beginner skaters and all participants must be able to skate and stop confidently (using at least the heel brake). If you do not use a heel brake then you must be able to control your speed and stop on downhill slopes using any other stopping methods. The ability level of participants on the trip needs to be closely matched so that the chosen terrain and average speeds can be appropriate for everyone and allow for greater learning.
