Zagreb, Croatia
Fri 2nd to Sun 4th June 2023 – Zagreb City Trip with Rink Training Day
After the success of 2018’s first trip to Zagreb, Skatefresh are returning to the Croatian capital with a 3 day weekend Special City Trip (with rink training day)
This trip is ideal for those wanting to minimise time away from work, commencing on Friday and finishing on Sunday afternoon.
Of course, you are free to extend your holiday before or after the scheduled trip if you want to experience more of this beautiful country.
As in 2018, this trip will be co-organised by Skatefresh Trip skaters and Croatian residents, Boris and Dijana. They own the rink not far from Zagreb where we’ll be spending some time training and skating. Check out their video of the last Zagreb weekend trip in 2018 to give you a feel for it.
Itinerary
Friday 2 June
The Trip will begin at 10:30am meeting in Zagreb city centre to drive 30mins to Samoboor where we will skate all day on Friday from 11am.
This “Rink Training Day” will make use of the outdoor hockey rink for us to work on Stops, Slides, Jumps, Transitions, Backwards and some Dance moves and Tricks in various themed workshops. You’ll also have the chance to get padded up and learn some hockey skills and then play a friendly game.
In the late afternoon we’ll have our main group meal of traditional Croatian food served at a riverside restaurant. Then some time to relax before the Friday Night Skate.
The Friday Night Skate is in and around the village of Samoboor, with a police escort, photographer and even our own drone taking footage (see the video above).
We finish the day at the rink with a disco night on skates where local skaters will join us. You’ll return to Zagreb and your accommodation on Friday night.
Saturday 3 June
We meet at 11am in the centre and skate through the city with various short lessons stops to a beautiful park with gorgeous surfaces around Lake Jarun.
We’ll shop for a picnic at a local market and eat in the park.
Some ‘Yoga for Skaters’ in the park is an option (based on Asha’s online yoga course). Skaters can choose to skate or take the tram back to the city centre.
Sunday 4 June
Meet at 9:30am for the Zagreb City Tour taking in the main sights, parks and local skate areas. Some short “skills polishing” lessons will happen in memorable locations.
Quick lunch in local restaurants in city centre.
Finish skating by 4pm with final drinks.
Price of 3 day Zagreb trip: £199
(Price includes all skate tours and lesson time)
Cost includes skate tours, classes and guiding.
Cost does not include accommodation, travel, insurance, meals or drinks.

Ability Level Requirements
This trip is NOT appropriate for beginner skaters and all participants must be able to skate and stop confidently (using at least the heel brake). If you do not use a heel brake then you must be able to control your speed and stop on downhill slopes using any other stopping methods. The ability level of participants on the Trip needs to be closely matched so that the chosen terrain and average speeds can be appropriate for everyone and allow for greater learning.
Please do NOT make any travel or accommodation arrangements until you have been officially accepted onto the Trip (by email).
