SkateDance (or Jam skating) is the latest craze in skating. It’s fun, keeps you fit and helps all aspects of your skating. Expand your skating repertoire to include moves which fit to any music and have the ‘wow’ factor.
Asha’s specially created syllabus of moves, teaches you a series of progressively more difficult dance steps which can be linked into short, simple routines by the end of every class. Different abilities can be catered for in the same class as each dance step has easy, medium and difficult versions.
As dance steps become more difficult, it becomes impossible to avoid backwards manoeuvres and crossing the skates, but the zero/low speeds in SkateDance make this ideal for improving your backwards, transitions and crossovers. Over the series of classes you will be guided through static walks, sideway steps, dynamic walks, moonwalks, pivots, spirals, crossing moves like Grapevine and New York Shuffle, spins, jumps and more.
Directions to Gladstone Park
Take the Jubilee line north from Baker street and get off at Dollis Hill Station. Turn right at the barriers and cross over the pedestrian crossing towards the shops. Walk down Hamilton Road, Gladstone Park is at the end. Walk into the park and the courts are in front of you. Easy 6 min walk.
Here is Asha with Erika Cordeiro, ICP instructor in Rio de Janeiro, dancing on Ipanema beach where Asha first became interested in SkateDance.
Skatefresh has close working relations with the world’s largest skate school in Madrid, Madrid Patina. Asha trained and certified their 30+ instructors (in Spanish) several years ago and now returns frequently to Spain to teach both their clients and instructors. This video is from an internal Instructor Training session for Madrid Patina’s instructors and this routine was learned in an hour.
