Would you like to have Asha’s expert eye on your skating all day without having to pay her usual £50 an hour rate? Now you can with this special One Day Intensive skate class where over 6 hours of tuition you will be guided through a variety of skills and techniques, and at the end have class notes to help guide your practice in the weeks to come.
The focus will be on fully understanding the one thing that connects ALL skills and makes all moves and tricks easier to learn. When you have this in place, everything you learn and all the practice you do become very productive and you see results much faster. It takes time to fully integrate this approach and to break old habits in the body so this immersion in your skating over one day will do all that and more.
Improver/Intermediate One Day Intensive - Saturday 20th July
Over the course of the day we will cover:
- Speed skating and creating more with less .
- Downhill slopes and how to deal with increasing speeds, with or without a heel brake.
- Acceleration and Crossovers
- Backwards skating, transitions and basic stops (appropriate to your level). No backwards experience necessary.
- We will end with a ‘tricks’ workshop where I will ask participants beforehand to send me their desired trick and I’ll see how many ‘mini tutorials’ I can give on the day.
The timetable is 11am – 2pm and 3.00pm – 6.00pm.This course is recommended for various ability levels as Asha can easily select harder and easier exercises for each skill we are covering.
The usual class prerequisite is our Improver class. The minimum level for the Improver/Intermediate class is parallel turns, reasonable stopping (with heel brake or toe stop), and medium speed.
The minimum level for the Intermediate/Advanced class is to have some knowledge of backwards skating, more than one stop and medium to high speed. The Intermediates/Advanced Day will cover many of the
ICP Instructor course skills so would act as a good preparation for that.
The skate day it suitable for inline and quads skaters.
Places are limited so please book in advance by emailing Bookings@skatefresh.com telling us you would like to book on the skate day.
Intermediate/Advanced One Day Intensive – Sunday 14th September
Over the course of the day we will cover:
- Backwards skating (focus on backwards propulsion, backwards crossovers and backwards crisscross)
- Various kinds of Transitions (forwards to backwards and backwards to forwards)
- Combinations of Transitions (eg. Barrel Roll with variations, Grapevine transitions)
- Jumps (forwards to forwards, forwards to backwards, backwards to backwards, 360s)
- *Slides (backwards powerslides, backwards T-stops, hockey stop and forwards entry into backwards powerslide (in Asha’s opinion, THE most essential and useful advanced level stop).
The timetable will be 10am – 1pm and 2.30pm – 5.30pm.
